I should ask, how long does DNA testing take? I was told in February that it takes between 2-5 days.
I wonder if that might be "banker's hours"? Send a courier to the lab, lab tech does the test and goes home for the night, reading the results in the morning. Who knows what kind of advanced equipment and tech the military has access to. Fly right to the Kabul lab, start the test, fly to the carrier, proceed under the impression that this is him, with the hosing-down, funeral and dumping. A few hours later, confirmation.

What are people mainly using the Push for? I certainly wouldn't want to be updated every time one of my friends posts on Facebook... I know there are different settings - just wondering what kind of updates people use this for.

I've just installed Lion on a blank drive on a new Air and this is in Software Update. I'm definitely running DP2 as it says in the dialog. Is this telling me to update to something I already have or is there a DP3 I haven't heard about?

Huh, my push notifications weren't working, so I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I went to the settings and I'm apparently running Facebook 3.1.1, but when I go to iTunes, it says the app is at 3.1 and I have no updates.
Odd. But maybe they've fixed the sound issues already.
I've noticed the same. I deleted FB from both iPhone and iTunes, then downloaded it thru iTunes since it states there that it is v3.1, but once on the iPhone it is still v3.1.1 and still, no notifications.
This really isn't worth losing sleep over, but it's really pissing me off.

1. Apple is an American company. Their products get released in the US first. The US market is and should remain their primary concern. If the US is going to LTE, that's where Apple needs to go.
2. Apple innovates. It's what they do. Innovate a way to offer LTE with acceptable battery life.
3. Processor speed for phones is overrated, especially when apps are written to account for legacy hardware in the wild. No one is going to write an A-5 only App as long as the iPad 1, iPhone 4 & 3GS level tech remains so widely held.

sorry about this, but I've had trouble with Japanese text only getting thru intact to a portion of friends to whom I write. Haven't been able to come up with a determination of what the issue is (e.g., Yahoo, 10.4.x, Hotmail). And it's late and I'm avoiding doing work.

I think your missing the point.
Some of us are bored of the X factor and Simon Cowell. This is some fun to put a bit of unpredictability in to something that was almost certainty.
I haven't bought the single, though do like Rage Against the Machine but can understand why they want to do this.
Explain how it's adding unpredictability if we're being told what song to buy, to get to No.1? By my definition that's the complete opposite of unpredictable.
If it's "just some fun" then that's a different story...but it's not. It's about people getting all whinny because they think Simon Cowell is taking over the music industry, and leading us like sheep to make his song's No.1. If you don't like the damn XFactor songs then quite rightly don't buy them! Buy what you want to become No.1. But when when people deliberately try and manipulate the results, thinking it will "teach that man a lesson", it becomes less about the music and more about some stupid battle with Simon Cowell!
The song I want to see at No.1 is the song that I like most at that particular time, not the song that I think will give the best metaphorical finger to Mr. Cowell.

So, apart from all the discussions about exFAT and all... am I the only one who wish the SD reader was in the front?
They could have made a black plastic strip the same thickness and width as the optical drive, meaning two long black strips in the front of the Mac mini instead of one, and put the reader on the far right of the second strip, just like the infrared receptor is at the right of the CD/DVD slot.
Or even better, design some kind of CD/DVD slot with an SD reader built-in.
I also wish Apple would be able to get the same slot-loading mini-CD/DVD capability as the Nintendo Wii.

This really makes a whole lot of sense: DVDs are dirt cheap (like 0.03 USD cheap), 8GB USB drives are not. Providing the OS on stick drive makes sense for an expensive machine like the Macbook Air, where people are paying more for the tiny size. And boo to only offering 10.7 over the Mac App Store.

I hate to say it but I was not moved by these commercials. Nice to see them but sorry...both guys are geekish.
1) Mac says that he can be used in private and PC is for work only.

2) Sorry the "Mac" character is not as cool as the US version or some of the actors being used for other computer commercials in Japan. Star power sells in Japan.

We get faxes daily selling PCs. We have sales people coming by every so often selling computers directly. What is apple doing in Japan? nice commercials that will maybe sell a few more. But in the schools, they are doing crap. If the school uses PCs, the parents buy the same one.
In Sendai, the school system bought macs...so did the parents.

aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh I want to buy this!!!! But alas I cannot afford it at present, well it depends on if I get a 3DS next weekend or not. But having used the demo of Outlook I love it, much better then Mail IMO.

I third that...Intel integrated 'thing' will never be in a product I buy (If it's the only GPU in mac and nothing else is there like with MacBook Pro where you can switch between graphics 'device'). :)

Yeah, there'll be a cheaper version of the S to replace the Arcade/Pro systems. It'll probably have a 120GB HDD and maybe even be glossy white, as white Kinects have been spotted.

I think for things like an OS there will always be the need for some kind of external medium (e.g. if you install from scratch - e.g. harddrive died and you need to install a new OS) ... but USB stick would be a nice alternative to DVD (I'm not using my DVD drive for anything and might want to skip it in the next update if there is an option to get a second drive instead of DVD)
Anyway ... As the new 'bug' section says: there is a resizing bug when viewing the back. Click the bottom of the widget to make it large before you view prefs to get the smoothest transition.
The code cleanup is needed now more than ever. This was one of the lasts steps in the beta stage. I will now (appart from fixing some more - user reported - bugs maybe) start working on the widget from scratch. Less code, nicer graphics, easier to use. It will take a while though.
Any request on widget abilities will be considered.
Time to enjoy the weather.
